Community Interventions
Community Led Monitoring
1n 2016-2017 CISMAT recruited 160 Community TB Animators originally to carryout watch dog activities at TB facility and Community level
to monitor and document status of TB service delivery to ensure service availability and patient satisfaction related to access TB services, human right barriers, gender, and discrimination. This intervention is putting TB patients at the center of the response and has laid a road map for Community Right and Gender (CRG) integration into National TB response, which is a Global Fund requirement for the fight against TB/HIV and Malaria.
Community Led Advocacy with TB stakeholders, Local Councils and members of Parliament:
This intervention has created the Sierra Leone Parliamentary TB caucus
recognized by the Global TB Caucus. This foundation has been laid to promote Policy formulation to protect TB affected communities. CISMAT has coordinated trainings sessions for Local Council authorities facilitated by the National TB programs to understand how the TB program operates and how the Local Council administration can support the fight to end TB in Sierra Leone and also has advocated for inclusion of TB intervention into Local Council Development plans.
Community TB engagement Activities
